About
My name is Sophie, and I’m currently a senior at Mountain View High School and the Freestyle Academy arts magnet program, where I take Digital Media and Design as my elective. I’m Chinese American and from the Bay Area, California. My core values are family, friendship, happiness, and wellness.
Outside of school, I sing with Cantabile Youth Singers, perform with MVHS’ Dance Spectrum, and volunteer with the National Charity League. I also serve as marketing director at the non-profit Emergent Minds, where I design social media campaigns and infographics.
I’m passionate about graphic design and visual communication. At Freestyle, design has taught me to think critically about how visual choices communicate meaning. I’ve learned the importance of balance, cohesiveness, and detail in creating work that not only looks appealing but also resonates with viewers. These lessons extend beyond the classroom, shaping how I approach projects across different mediums.
I also enjoy photography, which I first got into from birdwatching. Over time, my focus shifted toward flowers, and it has become a creative outlet that helps me relax. Photography lets me clear my mind and appreciate small moments of beauty, inspiring me to think about how thoughtful observation and creativity can shape the way I engage with and hope to influence the world.
